I retired from active diplomacy in 2006, having lived and worked in various countries during the previous thirty six years as a British diplomat, learning along the way about different cultures, lifestyles, conflict resolution, human rights, what makes people tick ... and much more.
Since 2001, I have been learning about various therapies and have become a practitioner of several (The Journey, Emotional Matrix, NPA, and Advanced Practitioner of the Emmett Technique). My wife, Fiona, and I had the wonderful and exciting opportunity to run a small retreat centre in Spain from December 2010 until September 2012. This allowed us to expand and deepen our awareness and understanding, including regular meditation with groups as well as individually. It also helped me to realise how grounding and inspirational meditation can be and that it can help people move forward in their lives.
On the therapy front, what I offer now is a blend, a combination of therapeutic skills learnt and built up over several years (and still learning) and welcome the opportunity to help those who believe they are "stuck" in their ways, in their life, in whatever! And it is always a delight to see them become "unstuck", allowing them to open and to be able to fulfill more of their own capabilities.
I am currently in training to be a practitioner of the Havening Techniques®- powerful tools that can be used to treat the consequences of encoded traumatic or stressful memories. To complete my studies, I need to submit 32 case studies, 2 of which need to be in video format. If the concept interests you (and please look at the Havening website for further information), then please contact me on 07734773956, or by email (email@example.com ).
Another interest is Antarctica and the Antarctic Treaty, stimulated initially through working with Polar Regions Unit in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and arranging and hosting the 2006 Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting (ATCM) in Edinburgh. Since then, I have participated in the annual meeting as part of the Antarctic Treaty Secretariat in different locations around the world (India, Ukraine, Uruguay, Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, China and again Argentina). The next ATCM will be held in Prague, the Czech Republic in July 2019.. I have also been privileged to proof-read material for three books. All are available via Amazon and good bookshops. They are: Consciousness The New Currency by Brandon Bays and Kevin Billett; Leadingship by Arnold Timmerman; and Unrehearsed Journey by Joan Inglis.
